About the book:

Linda Strader became one of the first women hired on a fire crew with the U.S. Forest Service. A naïve twenty-year-old in the mid 1970s, she had no idea that she was entering a strictly man’s world, and would soon discover she’d face many more challenges than “just” fighting wildfires. Told with honest emotion and authentic dialog, Summers of Fire is an adventure story beyond battling fires and discrimination. It is a vibrant story of love, strong friendships, and heartbreak, over her seven years pursuing the exciting, although sometimes exhausting, soul-fulfilling job she loved.
